Modelica
- A Unified Object-Oriented Language for Physical Systems Modeling
Dr Hilding
Elmqvist, founder of Dynasim, developer of the Simnon simulation package,
and designer of the modeling language Dymola took the initiative to design
a new unified object-oriented language for physical systems modeling in
1996.
The
language is called Modelica and will enable the exchange and reuse of models
and model libraries between different tools. Elmqvist was the chairman
of a Technical Chapter within SCS (Society for Computer Simulation) International
consisting of about 25 people from university and industry with much experience
in modeling language design until end of 1999. Martin Otter, DLR is now
chairman of the new Modelica Assiciation. More information is available
