The Dynasim DerivativeNovember 15, 1998Release of Dymola version 3.1Version 3.1 of Dymola was released on June 12, 1998. It contains many new features such as automatic HTML model documentation, DDE-interface to Dymola and simulator, possibility to continue a simulation, linearization and flexible setting of initial conditions, enhanced MATLAB/SIMULINK support, hardware-in-the-loop simulation utilizing dSPACE equipment, and a new hydraulics library.
New Employee at DynasimDr Sven Erik Mattsson joined the staff of Dynasim on August 1, 1998. Sven Erik previously worked at the Department of Automatic Control, Lund Institute of Technology. He was the project manager for the development of the modeling language Omola and the associated simulation environment Omsim. He thus contributes essential knowhow, in particular, on DAE's, hybrid modeling and computer algebra to Dynasim.
Dynasim Moved to New OfficesOn May 15, 1998, Dynasim moved to new, larger offices (picture) within the Research Park Ideon. This part of the research park was recently reconstructued, creating a roofed atrium (see picture) with direct access to several information technology companies. Dynasim is on the top floor, with a view of the Lund Institute of Technology and of the town center skyline. A restaurant is conveniently located in the same building.
Modelica - The New Modeling LanguageThe work on defining Modelica - the new modeling language - is now performed by a Technical Chapter on Modelica within SCS International - the Society for Computer Simulation International. There have been 15 meetings during the period September 1996 to November 1998. Creating a proper well-defined specification of Modelica required much work during 1998. However, Modelica version 1.1 is now ready and several vendors are working on supporting tools. For more
information, see the new official Modelica home page: The design group has written more than 20 papers about Modelica. For the list of papers and pointers for downloading, see 'Publications' on the Modelica homepage.
New Sales Channels for DymolaDynasim has appointed Rapid Data Ltd, U.K. as agent for selling Dymola in particular in the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Spain.Toyota Techno Service has been appointed as sales agent for Dymola in Japan.
Exhibition of Dymola in Manchester and RenoDymola was exhibited at the "ESM '98 - European Simulation Multi-conference", Manchester, U.K. and at the "SCSC '98 - Summer Computer Simulation Conference", Reno, U.S.A.
